Current status of genetically modified foods applications

On this page

All applications for genetically modified food must be assessed on a case-by-case basis by FSANZ. The assessment report for each application is available by clicking on the link in the tables below. Note there is no assessment report for A381 because this application was withdrawn before a report was prepared.

GM processing aids are regulated by another standard. For further information, refer to the assessment report for applications about GM processing aids here or clause 17 in Standard 1.3.3 – Processing Aids.

The OECD Unique Identifier (UI) was developed by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to identify each GM plant according to its transformation event, in such a manner that each UI should be unique to that transformation event. The format for the UI is a nine-digit alpha-numeric code composed of three elements separated by dashes e.g. DAS-81910-7. The first 2 or 3 digits designate the developer/applicant; the next 5 or 6 digits designate the transformation event; and the last digit is a verifier that is calculated mathematically.
